Makwa Sahgaiehcan First Nation 2026 PowWow

Event Hosts
The Makwa Sahgaiehican First Nation Powwow returns May 15-17, 2026, welcoming dancers, singers, families, and visitors to Loon Lake, Saskatchewan for a vibrant weekend rooted in tradition, connection, and celebration. This year’s gathering also recognizes 150 years of Treaty 6, honouring the enduring strength, history, and spirit of the Nations and communities connected to this territory.
Guests can experience grand entries, competitive dance categories, singing championships, invited drum groups, specials, and the powerful atmosphere that makes powwows such meaningful cultural gatherings. Throughout the weekend, the arbor comes alive with regalia, song, drumming, and the shared energy of community coming together across generations.
Whether you are returning each year or attending for the first time, the Makwa Sahgaiehican Powwow offers an opportunity to witness living traditions, support Indigenous culture, and enjoy a welcoming celebration of pride, resilience, and unity. All are welcome to attend respectfully and share in the experience.
