Throughout the year, Meadow Lake Tribal Country comes alive with pow wows, celebrations, tournaments, cultural gatherings, seasonal events, and community milestones.

Visitors are warmly welcomed to attend many public events as a meaningful way to experience the living cultures, music, dance, food, and hospitality of this region.

Our tourism region is guided by the nine Nations of Meadow Lake Tribal Council, whose communities are spread across the forests, lakes, and traditional territories of northwestern Saskatchewan. Each Nation hosts unique gatherings and traditions throughout the year.

Celebrations and gatherings are hosted throughout the year by our nine member Nations:

Regular Annual Events

Many of our most loved gatherings return each year.
Dates can vary annually, so upcoming confirmations are added to the public calendar as details become available.

Pow wows are public celebrations held each summer, where people gather to dance, sing, socialize, honour traditions, and welcome visitors. They are also an excellent opportunity to enjoy Indigenous arts, crafts, and foods.

Demolition Derby - the Flying Dust First Nation Wish Foundation hosts an annual demolition derby on the final weekend in June. Funds raised support youth sports and members with special needs.

National Indigenous Peoples Day is held on June 21st annually. Celebrations are organized by the communities and guests are welcome.  Please visit the community websites for updated information about celebrations.

The National Day of Truth and Reconciliation takes place on September 30th annually. This is a day for visitors to learn and reflect on our community’s dark history with Canadian residential schools.
